Mr. K.T. Lai has held an honorary position of Director (Human Resources) at A-World Consulting, Limited ¡X a local consultancy firm specialized in public relations and engagement since his retirement from the CLP Group in early 2008. He has since 2012 taken up the role of Senior Program Director (Training & Human Resources Management Subject Group) at University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuing Education on a half-time basis, responsible for designing and delivering human resource management and development related programmes.

Mr. Lai retired from the CLP Group, the parent company of the China Light & Power Group in early 2008. At time of retirement, he was the Group Human Resources Manager of CLP Holdings, Ltd. managing the Group¡¦s remuneration and benefits policies including those for the Group's senior executives and the Group¡¦s human resources information system.  He was also involved in the implementation and communication of the Group¡¦s annual organizational performance review at corporate levels.

In his over forty years¡¦ career as an human resources professional, Mr. Lai has gained extensive experience and thorough understanding and development of human resource strategy particularly in the areas of reward management, performance management, employee engagement, executive development and succession planning.

Mr. Lai is a Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. Currently, he is the Independent Non-Executive Director of American International Assurance (Trustee) Ltd. He is a Fellow Member and also member of the Executive Council of the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management. He was the President of the Institute during June 2005 and June 2008, and co-chaired the Employee Relations Committee, the MPF Taskforce and chair of the Remuneration Committee of the Institute. He also facilitated the Institute to develop the Institute¡¦s Human Resources Professional Model during 2006¡V2009 when he was the chair of the HR Professional Standard Committee of the Institute.

Mr. Lai is appointed by the HKSAR Government to serve as member of the Remuneration Committee of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority; the Labour Advisory Board Committee on Labour Relations; the Elderly Commission, the Curriculum Development Council¡XHong Kong Examination and Assessment Authority Committee on Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, and the Sub-committee on Funding Modes of the Committee on Free Kindergarten Education of the Education Bureau.  He also gives lectures regularly at the University of Hong Kong School of Professional and Continuous Education and Hong Kong Baptist University on human resource management related programs, and gives speeches as a guest speaker for local universities and professional bodies.

Taking up various voluntary roles related to human resources management, Mr. Lai actively serves the community. He is currently a member of the Human Resources Committee of the Hong Kong Red Cross, the Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, Honorary Human Resources Advisor of the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association, member of the Executive Committee of Hong Chi Association and member of the Steering Committee of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service Institute.
