The Faculty of Business of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the College of Management of Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) have entered into a collaboration agreement in research and education programmes. Under the agreement, the two universities will jointly offer a doctoral degree in management on the Chinese mainland to equip the most senior executives to become scholar-managers.
The agreement was reached during National People¡¦s Congress Standing Committee Vice -Chairman Professor Cheng Siwei¡¦s recent visit to PolyU in April. Prof. Cheng is also the Dean of College of Management of CAS. PolyU and CAS have established strong ties over the years and the two institutions have been jointly offering a double Master¡¦s degree programme in software engineering since 2003.
The agreement brings the collaboration between PolyU and CAS to a new horizon. Besides jointly offering the doctoral degree in management, the two institutions will also collaborate in exchange of faculty members and research projects, and co-host international academic conferences.
PolyU President Professor Poon Chung-kwong remarked, ¡§The collaboration marks an important milestone for both PolyU and CAS. The two institutions will join hands to contribute toward academic research for the betterment of our country.¡¨
Professor Judy Tsui, Dean of PolyU Faculty of Business (FB) was gratified by the agreement. She thanked Professor Cheng for his support rendered to PolyU. She added, ¡§The College of Management of Graduate University of CAS is one of the most prestigious graduate schools on the Mainland. The collaboration demonstrates that the excellence of the PolyU Faculty of Business programmes is highly recognized, both internationally and on the Mainland.¡¨
Recently, FB has been listed among the world¡¦s top 100 business schools in an independent survey conducted by the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). It has also achieved accreditation status of EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System).
PolyU has established teaching outposts in five major cities ¡V Hangzhou, Xian, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Wuhan ¡V to offer professional development programmes for executives on the Mainland.
