HONG KONG, Nov. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading international trade, customs, and export law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., announced today that Colbert Lam has joined the Hong Kong office of the firm's Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Ltd. subsidiary as senior advisor for customs and international trade. In this position he will help companies navigate the complex customs and trade rules in China and other Asia-Pacific markets.

"This region is one of the most dynamic in the world, both as a manufacturing and production source and as a rapidly growing consumer market," said ST&R Asia-Pacific practice group leader Sally Peng. "ST&R is committed to providing the best possible service to companies doing business here, and that means bringing on the best possible professionals. With his experience and insight in both the public and private sectors, Colbert is a natural fit for our growing Asia-Pacific team."

Prior to joining ST&R, Mr. Lam served as partner in the Asia-Pacific customs and trade practice of a major accounting firm for 20 years. In this role he was instrumental in building and training teams in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong that advised companies on all aspects of strategic planning in China and assisted clients with customs clearance, audits and investigations, and other import and export matters.

Earlier in his career Mr. Lam spent five years with the Canada Customs and Excise Department, specializing in NAFTA enforcement. He also served as a professional accountant and auditor for a Canadian accounting firm, where he gained experience with cross-border transaction planning, particularly transfer pricing and customs valuation.

Founded in 1977, Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg and its affiliated global trade compliance management firm STTAS comprise the largest customs and international trade services provider worldwide. The firms operate throughout North America, South America, Asia, and Europe and offer the expertise of hundreds of international professionals who assist companies to comply with the complex laws, rules, and regulations affecting imports and exports. ST&R's decades-long presence in the Asia-Pacific region has grown to include dozens of professionals in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
